Sangean H201 AM/FM Digital Shower Radio Review
Bought this to replace a Sony shower radio I’ve had for years. I was amazed at the difference in quality. The sound is superb, it sounds like you have a component hifi in the bathroom. I use it mostly, but not only, to listen to the news, and the voice quality is amazingly clear. The volume can be set very loud with no distortion. One great little feature that is not described well in the listing is that the FM antenna in the back swings around to become a beautiful and very solid semi-circular handle for the radio, so you can carry it around the house very easily. FM reception is outstanding, AM so-so, but that’s inevitable and due to my location.

This radio is VERY well made, has useful features, excellent reception, and excellent sound quality even when maxed out (this is very good because I have to turn it up to about 90% of max to hear it over the shower and our noisy exhaust fan). The radio was a little bigger and heavier than I expected but considering the excellent build quality, water proofing (it can be submerged up to one meter for 30 minutes!), and that it floats makes the physical dimensions a reasonable trade off. I like the LED flashlight built into the side as I imagine it will be handy when the power goes out. I also like the alarm timer, useful if you want to take a quick nap and don’t want to reset your alarm clock. I would recommend this radio to anyone!

Look no further when seeking out a good shower radio. This radio is superb. I read quite a few reviews and spotted this one and it is great. It pulls in stations that my previous radio never pulled in before which is a nice suprise. There are two mounting options: one is the round hanger that pops up from the back, and it can be hard mounted via the included screws with anchors. Has a nifty little light on the side for when you get stuck in the shower without the lights on, and the numbers are backlit.

The picture just doesn’t do the product justice, as it looks and feels much better than the picture might indicate. This is a sturdy, solid quality product with easy to use buttons and a large enough display so you can see the station and time without glasses. It performs much better than my Sharper Image stero shower radio (no longer made) in terms of reception and easy of programming. While not stereo (which is of marginal benefit in a shower), the speaker is loud enought to be heard through the noise of a shower. I’m very pleased so far.

The reception is great. It can pick up distant FM stations from 90 miles away that other radios in the house can’t receive. The sound quality is decent, though it may lack adequate bass response for some groove-dependent listeners. Classical music and talk sound just fine, but if you like to get down to Parliament/Funkadelic as you’re lathering in the morning, you may be underwhelmed. The batteries are rated for extended usage, and after a month of daily use, they’re still going strong. I haven’t found a need for the flashlight yet, though I’m sure this will come in handy during the next power outage.
